Philmont Memorial Day Parade Canceled

On Friday, April 17, 2020, Minkler-Seery American Legion Post 252 of Philmont announced that their Memorial Day Community service and parade would be canceled.  This unfortunate virus that we are facing has changed our social activities. This would have been the 73rd year honoring those who sacrificed for our freedom.

Minkler–Seery Post 252 will still honor those Veterans who did give their lives for us with a service at each cemetery and at the Village Memorial Parks, with a time and date to be announced.

Members will decorate graves of the fallen Veterans in the Town cemeteries if flags are available from the distributors, which are currently closed. This is just one more business that this virus has affected our town and all over. If we do miss your loved one by not placing a new flag, we hope you understand, and when the flags are available, we will place them.

Chairman Jeffrey French is asking the Town of Claverack residents to just take a moment out of your day on May 25th to remember those service members who are no longer here. On our 101st Anniversary of the American Legion Post 252 of Philmont, we would like to ask everyone to be safe and follow the social distancing guidelines as we look forward to our program next year.
